Library jokes
Why did the librarian slip and fall on the library floor?
Because she was in the non-friction section.
- What did the spider do inside the library computer?
It made a webpage.
- Where are there more nobles than in the royal court?
In the library. All the books have titles.
- Why does the ghost come back to the library every day for more books?
Because she goes through them too quickly.
- If you travel to Eastern Europe, why won’t you find any books in Prague’s public library?
They’re all “Czech”ed out!

Manga mania
So I know lots of teens that love watching Anime movies and reading Manga books. Just in case you haven’t heard of Manga, it is just the Japanese word for comic book and Anime are Japanese and Japanese-influenced animated movies. Anime and Manga are getting crazy popular in America right now.
The library is having a special How to Draw Manga seminar on Tuesday, Sept 30th for teens. Then there is going to be a Manga drawing contest. All submissions are due by Saturday, October 11th. Its really cool, the winner will have their drawing featured as part of the design of the new library teen website.

Sundays
Woo hoo! The library is now open on Sunday (they are closed on Sundays during the summer for some reason). They started opening on Sundays yesterday. That means I can go to the library each and every day of the week if I want to! And don’t tell me that doesn’t make me cool. Because I am awesome! I wish I could convince the library to be open 24/7, but I don’t think it will work.
Twilight
Ok, so I know the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is the most popular series in the world right now, but I just wasn’t a big fan of Twilight. It was a long book, but it was still a fast read. The story is about a high school girl named Bella who has just moved to Forks, WA to live with her father. When she goes to a new school she meets the Cullen family, a group of mysterious teenagers who are very beautiful and barely interact with the rest of the school. She is particularly drawn to Edward. In fact he becomes the whole center of her universe and it starts to get kind of annoying. Like I felt, maybe she should get some more hobbies or something. Near the end it gets more interesting when another group of vampires fixate on Bella and the Cullens have to help save her, but the whole time she just keeps whining and getting into a series of clumsy accidents. i might just read the next one though.
Me — the library’s green spokesman
Check it out, the library recently made a green corner on their website. When you click it, what do you see? A picture of me recycling paper in the big paper recycling receptacle on the side of the library building. I’m a rolemodel now!
Teen SRP party
Last Wednesday the teens had their end of summer reading program party. They got lots of pizza and a dj. Naturally I was hanging out in the library that night and some of the librarian’s told me that the teens were being shy and not dancing very much. I knew right away that this was a job for Peter Panda. So I went inside and tried to get everyone excited. Teens a hard to motivate though. I got a few dancing and then one told me to take my head off. The nerve! If I removed my head I wouldn’t be alive.
I will post the pictures as soon as I get copies of them to put up here for you all to see.
Potato
So its a usual day for me. I ride my bike over to the library and get there soon after it opens at 10:00. Then I usually like to start my library time by using one of the computers to check my email. I choose computer #14 and discover that someone has carved a word into the wooden carrel holding the computer. I thought, “How rude, who would vandalize the library like that?” Then I saw that the word carved in large letters was “potato.” I was laughing so hard. I couldn’t stop thinking about what must have been going on in the person who carved that’s mind. “I feel like carving something into this wood. Hmm . . . I know! Potato!”
Political Poster Art
Tomorrow there is going to be a free talk at the library about Political Poster Art, its the last art themed program for the Summer Reading Program
I wish Summer Reading lasted all year long. I also wouldn’t mind if summer lasted all year long too. Anyways the talk is being done by a graphic design professor from Eastern Michigan University and he’s going to talk about all the different ways people have used art for political reasons and as propaganda. This seems really relevant with the coming big presidential election. I should make some panda propaganda art about how I would like to be able to vote too. So I think the talk sounds cool. You should go!
